Markko Martin (Ford)
"Water was running down the roads and the car was aquaplaning. Apart from the last stage when I hit mud and slid into a field, I stayed on the road but I was lucky. We must nominate our tyres so early that conditions can change and the rules banning gravel crews mean we have no idea what conditions will be like. Tyre choice is a gamble and I will be happy if I can just see the end of every stage today

Notional times cause Ford angst

The Ford team is less than satisfied with the times awarded after the stoppage of the long Panzerplatte stage this morning.
Markko Martin went through the test having started before Petter Solberg recording a time of 23:59.6. Next to start after Solberg was Francois Duval, who had beaten both Citroens over the previous two stages, on stage 10 by ten seconds or more. Arriving at Solberg's considerable accident, not only was Duval understandably distracted, but his car ran over some of the wreckage.
However, the Citroens were awarded Martin's time, some 13 seconds quicker than Duval's, negating all the gains he had made earlier in the day and more.
It remains to be seen whether the Ford outfit makes any formal complaint.

Keegi suurematest ekspertidest teavad mida FIA reeglid ette näevad?
