"Not a brilliant start to the day. I felt there was something not right with the engine power and then I braked too late for a corner and went off the road. Fortunately the spectators were there to help push me back."

"I went off the on the first stage, but I felt quite lucky. I had just enough speed not to get stuck and get back on the road. I think that perhaps I was on the wrong tyres. I had chosen ones that were suitable for ice and I think I should have taken the snow tyres instead."
