VW võtab oma Transporteri eelkäia Type 2 (tuntud ka kui HIPPI VAN) ja teeb sellega neile ära.

"We had an accident on the recce today. We met a big truck on the last stage. The road was too narrow and there was no way to avoid a crash. We have been taken care of by medical staff at the local hospital. We are ok, no serious injuries"

Good morning! It took some time getting out of bed today. We had quite the impact yesterday, but we were lucky. It could have been much worse when you look at our recce car. We've been cleared to continue by the medics. Luckily there were no fractures, only two bruised ribs causing me a bit of discomfort . So we're going to recce again today, and we'll see how it goes. We hope for the best. Thank you for all your support!

Update on recce accident
I see there's a lot of speculation about speed and who's to blame. We have speed restrictions (max 80km/h) and are always speed monitored on recce The accident was not caused by speeding. As the picture from the on-board shows, the truck was on the wrong side of the road. I tried to avoid the impact by turning right where there was a small opening. It really didn't matter what side any of us were on. The road was simply to narrow to avoid a crash. The trucker hadn't got information that there would be a recce on his daily route, and is not to blame either.
This is not a matter of placing blame, but a question of safety for both wrc drivers and locals!
