Ford ready to use team orders
BP Ford Abu Dhabi team principal Malcolm Wilson has confirmed he will do everything he can to get Mikko Hirvonen the best points finish in Corsica.
Wilson said if the top four positions were unchanged going into the final stage (SS16), he would ask Francois Duval and Jari-Matti Latvala to slow down and allow Mikko past.
Hirvonen against position switch
BP Ford Abu Dhabi team leader Mikko Hirvonen doesn’t want his team to promote him up the leaderboard at the expense of his fellow Ford drivers.
Mikko, however, felt he didn’t deserve to be helped into second. “I want to finish fourth; I really hope we don’t do any changes,” he said in the service park. “I don’t want to do it like that. I lost the championship with punctures; I had one in Germany, a very crucial one in New Zealand that cost me victory and now here again. And this is something I could have avoided. I saw the hole from far away but decided to go over it. So I deserve it. My mistake. Jari-Matti had a really good rally, I hope he can get a podium finish.”
